On the heels of his DUI arrest and embarrassing details surrounding the incident, TNT reports that Charles Barkley will be taking a “leave of absence” from the broadcast booth. It’s about time.

A Gilbert officer working a regional DUI task force stopped Barkley shortly after he left a popular nightclub at about 1:30 a.m. He failed field sobriety tests but was cooperative.

But was cooperative? If “cooperative” means bribing the officer with promises of putting a tattoo on his butt in the officer’s likeness and getting the officer to understanding the true reason for blowing off the stop sign, i.e., the hotness of his girl-friend and imminent O.S., then I guess that’s “cooperative.”

Barkley was booked and released at a field command post and later issued a statement saying he was disappointed he put himself in that situation.

If “disappointed he put himself in that situation” means cheating repeatedly on his wife Maureen and racing to get there, then that sums it up I guess.

Now that the loud-mouthed, egomaniac, ignoramus, Conservative-bashing Barkley is on a “leave of absence” indefinitely, I can return to watching TNT’s Inside the NBA. Good riddance.
